Measurement

Be careful! Makers are not responsible for incorrect measurements.

If necessary, we may ask you to take measurements that are not listed on this page.

Front view

C1 – Neck circumference Measured at the base of the neck above the cervical point (7th cervical vertebra), the base of the neck and the jugular notch of the sternum.

C2 – Chest width (not girth) and first chest circumference Chest width: measured above the base of the chest, between verticals drawn upward from the anterior corners of the axillae (7 cm below the jugular – supra-chest point).

C3 – Distance between breast centers (nipple line) Measured horizontally between the protruding breast point

C5 – Waist circumference Tie the waist (narrowest point) tightly with an auxiliary tape (this will ensure an accurate vertical measurement). Waist circumference is measured at the narrowest point around the torso (tight, but not too tight).

C6 – Hip circumference Measured horizontally across the gluteal points and the most protruding points of the thighs (the hip line is approximately 18-21 cm from the waistline).

M1 – Step length The distance from the groin to the floor on the inside of the leg.

M2 – Waist height The waist height is measured laterally vertically from the waistline to the floor.

G1 – Shoulder length

L1 – Chest height

L2 – Front to waistline length Measured from the center of the width of the shoulder roll. Through the protruding point of the chest and then vertically down to the level of the waistline marked with a tape (there is no such size criterion in Russian standards).

L3 – Length from breast girth (first) to nipple line

L4 – Length from nipple line to waist

L5 – Waist to hip length Measured from waistline to hips

Rear view

C7 – Neck circumference Measured at the base of the neck above the cervical point (7th cervical vertebra), the base of the neck and the jugular notch of the sternum.

C8 – Breast circumference (third) Third breast circumference – Measured in the same way as the first breast circumference, only the measuring tape in the front goes over the protruding points of the breast glands. Measured next to the first without moving the tape on the back

C9 – Waist circumference Tie the waist (narrowest point) tightly with an auxiliary tape (this will ensure an accurate vertical measurement). Waist circumference is measured at the narrowest point around the torso (tight, but not too tight).

C10 – Hip circumference Measured horizontally across the gluteal points and the most protruding points of the thighs (the hip line is approximately 18-21 cm from the waistline).

G2 – Arm length from the base of the neck to the wrist

L5 – Back length to waist

L6 – Seat height Measured laterally vertically from the waistline to the horizontal plane of the seat in the sitting position.

M3 – Length from neck to floor

M4 – Side length

Вид сбоку

C2 – Arm length to elbow Measured from the point of the shoulder to the elbow

G3 – Chest height Measure from the highest point of the shoulder seam to the waistline through the protruding point of the chest.

G4 – Armhole height Measure vertically from the base of the neck to horizontal with a centimeter or tapes at the level of the upper corners of the armpits.

C11 – Shoulder circumference This measurement is taken horizontally at the level of the back corners of the armpits.

C12 – Second chest circumference Defines the dimensions of the reference grid. Measure horizontally around the body through the protruding points of the pectoral glands, the measuring tape should not sag on the back.

C13 – Biceps girth Measured perpendicular to the axis of the shoulder at the widest point of the shoulder, the arm should be flexed (there is no such dimensional criterion in Russian standards).

C14 – Elbow girth Measured horizontally across the protruding points of the elbow with the arm slightly bent.

C15 – Forearm circumference

C16 – Wrist circumference Measure perpendicular to the axis of the forearm along the radial joint through the head of the ulna, but not too tight.

C17 – Upper thigh circumference Measured near the groin at the most protruding points of the thigh.

C18 – Knee circumference Measure the circumference of the knee at the center of the patella.

C19 – Shin girth Measured at the widest part of the shin.

C20 – ankle girth Measured horizontally around the leg just above the inner ankle.

L8 – elbow to wrist length

L9 – hip to knee length

L10 – knee to ankle length

Tips and advice

  • Measurements must be taken with a soft tape measure. Not with construction tapes or rulers!
  • Tie the elastic band around the waist where you think the waistline is.
  • You don’t have to take measurements from your naked body, you can wear tight, thin clothing without layers.
  • All body measurements marked “C” should be taken with a girth (the only exception is C3). This means that you need to stretch a centimeter tape around the part of the torso you plan to measure.
  • C20 — is an ankle measurement, be careful.
  • Measuring yourself is really hard – ask your friend to help you!
  • Try to take all measurements in centimeters!
  • For complex costumes, it won’t be enough to just measure, you’ll need a duct tape dummy (DTD).
  • The measuring tape should fit the body without deforming soft tissues by tension.
